How the Criminal Justice System's COVID-19 Response has Provided Valuable Lessons for Broader Reform
To better understand the challenges that the COVID-19 pandemic has created within the criminal justice system and how the various sectors of the system have adapted to those challenges, the Priority Criminal Justice Needs Initiative conducted a series of panel workshops with representatives of different sectors within the system. Panels focused on law enforcement, the court system, institutional corrections, community corrections, victim services providers, and community organizations. Data Snapshots Show COVID-19 Impact in Juvenile Justice Facilities
The Performance-based Standards (PbS) Learning Institute recently released three Data Snapshots summarizing the impact of COVID-19 in juvenile justice facilities. The snapshots highlight information collected in April 2021 about COVID-19 positivity test rates, prevention practices, and average daily population. Data were reported voluntarily by 148 correction, detention, assessment, and community-based residential programs in 32 states. Source: Performance-based Standards
