Domestic Violence Prevention – Lessons from the Polish Model

Abstract:
The polish Domestic Violence Prevention model requires the cooperation between social services and the judiciary since 2010. The presentation will highlight the solutions in force in Poland since 2010. In her newest study, published 2023, Dr. Szafranek has analyzed court files randomly drawn in courts troughout Poland and will present the outcome of her research during the session, including solutions and system collaboration recommendations.
Prof. Dr. Magda Szafranek

Prof. Dr. Magdalena Szafranek, sociologist and lawyer, works at the Institute of Applied Social Sciences, University of Warszaw. Her research interests include child and family support in the local environment and changes in civil society. She is a member of the Management Board of the Family Judges Association of Poland and of the General Committee of the International Association of Family and Juvenile Court Judges and magistrates. She is editor-in-chief of the polish scientific journal “Dziecko Krzywdzone”-Teoria, badania, praktyka (Child Abuse Theory, Research and Practice), which is published by the Dajemy Dziecion Site Foundation.
