Dr. Macarena Rau is an Architect and held also a Masters and PHD degree in Architecture and Urbanism with extensive experience leading Urban Security Projects and Initiatives, both public and private, in Chile and in various countries of Latin America and the Caribbean.
She is the President of the International CPTED Association.
She held also an Honoris Cause Doctorate from Claustrum Doctoral of Mexico 2021. Specialist in the CPTED (Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design) methodology with proven success in diagnosis, design, execution and evaluation of Violence and Crime Prevention projects from an Environmental perspective. International consultant in urban security with CPTED methodology of the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank), World Bank, Un-Habitat, and central governments such as SEDESOL, Mexico, Ministry of the Interior, Chile and local governments such as Quito, Ecuador; Recoleta, Providencia, Santiago and Antofagasta in Chile among others. Speaker at TEDX Rio de la Plata, Argentina.
