GIZ: Smart Prevention in Internat. Development Cooperation
The "Programme to Build and Strengthen the Police Structures in Selected Partner Countries in Africa" has produced two educational video clips for police officers. The aim of the videos is to raise awareness of police officers about preventative measures against COVID-19.
The Nokaneng flagship project in Lesotho targets women and girls with the aim to reduce the acceptance and break the silence around VAWG. This project reaches out to them through a mobile smartphone App, a complementary SMS-based solution for basic feature phones and media productions, such as radio soapies and videos.
The "Partnerships for the Prevention of Violence against Women and Girls in Southern Africa" engages in countries in Southern Africa to bring about change and alter social norms and practices that instigate VAWG.
The "Step It Up for Gender Equality in South African Media" flagship project motivates the South African news and entertainment industry to take on an active and positive role in challenging harmful norms and stereotypes and fighting GBV - within and beyond the industry itself.
As part of the program "Strengthening Reconciliation Processes in Sri Lanka" together with Search for Common Ground a six-month social media-driven initiative targeting youth was launched. Sharing positive content online is both a way to heal communities and to prevent hate crimes (e.g. online hate speech).
