Kongressprogramm 25. DPT-Digital

Passend zum Schwerpunktthema und den Entwicklungen der Corona-Pandemie geschuldet wird der 25. DPT-Jubiläumskongress am 28. & 29. September 2020 eine rein digitale Onlineveranstaltung sein. Das umfangreiche Kongressprogramm der ursprünglich im Kasseler Kongress Palais geplanten Präsenzveranstaltung wird in vier unterschiedlichen Formaten dargeboten. 

Smart Prevention: The Scottish Restorative Justice and recent research findings - a model for Europe?!

Abstract:
Restorative Justice procedures have shown the effect to be more accepted and found more helpful by both, the offenders and the victims, specially the effect that justice was just . The presentation was a contribution to the knowledge exchange programme, ‘Developing restorative justice in Scotland’, led by the University of Edinburgh and University of Strathclyde, and funded by the Scottish Universities Insight Institute.
Some of the evaluation results:

-Significant decrease in the frequency of reconvictions over a following period of 2 years

-No significant effects on the severity of reconvictions, or whether or not reconvicted

-All JRC groups (conferencing9 summed together, showed a significantly lower cost of convictions versus the control groups (mediation did not).

-Conferencing is value for money: The money saved through preventing reoffending was much more than the cost of running the scheme in all three areas (8 times more saved than the costs, overall.

-No significant results pointing towards any criminogenic effects

=Restorative Justice does not make people worse - Restorative Justice is smart prevention.

Petra Guder has gained broad initial experience in different fields of social work while working in municipal and county child welfare offices in Germany. For 25 years, she is involved in transatlantic coordination work between Germany and the US. She co-founded the international Committee of the US-National Concil of Youth and Family Court Judges and is with the organization since 1998. During that time she became a well informed witness observing juvenile justice reform activties throughout the US, specifically in the Reform Model State Pennsylvania. She also co-represents the National Council in the World Organization of Youth and Family Court Judges and Magistrates (IAYFJM/AIMJF). She founded and coordinated an international educational program for troubled youth from Germany, Austria and Switzerland in the US from 1995-2015 and organized many international field trips for professionals from Europe to the US to meet their counterparts in courts, child welfare offices, probation departments, in universities and research, speficially regarding evidence based programs. She also initated, together with Prof. Dr. Sonnen, University of Hamburg, a project for the German translation of the Blueprints (Delbert Elliott/University of Colorado) and co-founded the Transatlantic Dialogue, resulting in many contacts and conersations with researchers and practitioners in the field of Juvenile Justice and Child Welfare throughout the US. The US Juvenile Justice Reform Forum, part of the international program of the GCOCP since 2014, is also a result of the ongoing efforts to have an impact by making a difference for troubled children and making their world a little better every day.

Professor Joanna Shapland

Professor Joanna Shapland is the Edward Bramley Professor of Criminal Justice in the School of Law, University of Sheffield, UK. She has research interests in restorative justice, victimology and desistance. She directed the main national evaluation of restorative justice for the Ministry of Justice in England and Wales, as well as a subsequent project looking at police implementation of restorative justice, and is the Chair of the Restorative Justice Forum (Scotland), which brings together statutory and voluntary sector agencies, as well as the Scottish Government and the judiciary, to discuss the development of restorative justice in Scotland. She is also the Executive Editor of the International Review of Victimology.
