German Crime Prevention Congress 2025 - International Programme
More news about the topic
Next to various other topics in the broad field of violence and crime prevention, the 2025 congress in Augsburg is dedicated to the topic “Prevention and social peace”.
The current political crises highlight the growing threats to global peace — driven by wars such as those in Ukraine and the Middle East, climate crises, and the rise of right-wing extremism as well as authoritarian tendencies. Democracies, including Germany, are increasingly under pressure. Social inequality, widespread insecurity, and emotionally charged public debates foster anti-democratic attitudes. While many conflicts end through negotiation, such peace often proves unstable. Achieving sustainable peace remains an unresolved and pressing challenge.
The German Prevention Congress aims to analyse these processes and addresses questions of (social) justice, democracy, the rule of law, and equal opportunities. The aim is to identify issues and challenges that arise within this context in Germany and to describe their scope and underlying causes to define a framework for preventive actions. The target audience of the congress includes policymakers, practitioners in the field of prevention, as well as researchers and civil society actors engaged in promoting democratic values and social justice. The congress is also aimed at all other interested parties and those active in the field of prevention.
The Crime Prevention Congress offers a several lectures in English and many other lectures will be simultaneously translated into English.
