International Observatory on Information and Democracy (IOID)

More news about the topic

Launched in 2019, the Partnership for Information and Democracy, endorsed by 50 countries, aims at implementing democratic safeguards in the information and communication space through the Forum on Information and Democracy, founded by 11 civil-society organizations from different regions. The Forum has published hundreds of actionable policy recommendations to address disinformation, the lack of pluralism on digital platforms, or the need for accountability regimes for social networks and their users.

The International Observatory on Information and Democracy (IOID) aims to assess the impact of the information and communication space on public debate and democracy. As the Observatory prepares to kick off its inaugural research cycle in September, with a view to publish its evaluation report at the end of 2024, we’re opening a Call for Nomination to compose its Steering Committee. The Steering Committee will gather academics from different disciplines and horizons. It will be officially nominated for a 2-year mandate by the prefiguration group, and will be responsible to oversee the inaugural report's publication process.
