Assessment of radicalisation risks among young people
(Prof. Dr. Andreas Beelmann, Friedrich Schiller University Jena, & Thomas Müller)
The Lower Saxony Federal State Programme for Democracy and Human Rights promotes the development and dissemination of impact-centred measures for the prevention of radicalisation processes. Within this framework, the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, in cooperation with the Crime Prevention Council of Lower Saxony and with the support of the University of Hildesheim, has developed a new instrument for the analysis and evaluation of radicalisation risks.

11.40 am CEST
"My problem here are the grandpas..."- Project Presentation from Saxony, Germany (Ulrike Geisler & Bernd Stracke, B3 - Institute for Counselling, Accompaniment and Education e.V.)
Childhood and adolescence are - rightly - regarded as biographical core phases that require a special protective status, within the framework of which it is possible to practise democratic rules. In our projects of political education and radicalisation prevention, we also observe time and again that radicalisation processes also take place in actually untypical, later phases of life, which elude the usual paradigms and tried and tested approaches and interventions. The lecture, therefore, deals with radicalisation processes at different ages.

Based on the experiences from our projects, we will explain different possibilities of creating access to radicalising groups and counteracting radicalisation at different stages of life. It will also be shown what impact these observations and findings have on political education work and extremism prevention in practice.

Register and get access to the live-streamed DPT-TV lectures every week. Once registered you can watch all recorded lectures whenever it suits you best.

The registration gives you access to the online DPT-TV from April till November this year and serves as the ticket for our in-situ congress in Hannover, Germany, on October 4th & 5th.
