Lecture: LATERAN-IT: Assessment Leaking with Islamist Background (Laura Tampe, Prof. Dr. Rebecca Bondü, Psychological University of Applied Science Berlin)

Leaking includes behaviour that may indicate thoughts of or planning for serious acts of violence. It can take various forms, such as direct announcements or issue-specific actions and interests. Almost all perpetrators of Islamist-motivated terrorist acts in Germany showed leaking in the run-up to the offense. However, leaking does not always result in an offense, so that further criteria are necessary for its reliable evaluation. For this reason, an instrument was developed on the basis of 575 leakings from perpetrators of Islamist-motivated terrorist attacks in Germany and 157 leakings from persons who had made announcements but had not carried out or planned an attack (comparison group). With this instrument, the probability of leaking being translated into an act can be assessed. It included those characteristics and contents of leaking as well as conspicuous behaviour that differentiated statistically significantly between perpetrators and the comparison group. Particularly important criteria were weighted more heavily. On the basis of the instrument, a total sum is formed for individuals across all leakings of one person, which can be used, for example, by employees of the German security authorities to assess the need for intervention.

Project Presentation: Women Empower Women – Against Radicalisation (Tugba Tekin, Social Service of Muslim Women (e.V.) (SmF)
The project ‟Women Strengthen Women – Against Radicalisation“ is a prevention project against religiously based radicalism, which is funded by the Federal Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration and implemented at 10 SmF locations in Germany. Within the framework of the project, young girls between the ages of 15 and 25 are supported and strengthened in their personality so that they are not susceptible to being approached by radical groups. Our project measures are primarily aimed at young girls, whereby the families of the participants are included. The focus here is particularly on the fathers because they play an important role in the development of their daughters.
