There are 1-2 children in every class who experience or have experienced sexual violence. Sexualised assaults also happen at school. But where does abuse start? What do schools need to ensure safety?
A long-term goal is to create a prevention concept for schools to protect against sexualised violence and abuse. For this purpose, questionnaires were designed in advance, which were addressed to pupils, teachers and parents. The online survey took place in a secondary school in Lower Saxony. Among other things, it was recorded whether sexualised violence is an issue at school at all and in which situations or in which places on the school site the pupils feel unsafe. When designing the questionnaire, special emphasis was placed on the participation of the children and young people and their views were put into focus. Teachers and parents were also asked. The survey is also intended to draw attention to the issue of sexualised violence. Children and young people should feel in good hands at schools, be free of fear and receive individual support.
The lecture will first give an introduction to the topic of sexualised violence. Subsequently, the individual steps in the creation of the questionnaire and the results obtained from it will be presented.
