Digitalization changes forms of violence and provides opportunities to deal with violence. Violence prevention practitioners worldwide are facing challenges of adjusting to the new realities. Through a panel discussion with representatives of global and European networks for violence and crime prevention, the Gesellschaft f. Int. Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) would like to illustrate and jointly analyze the ambiguity of digitalization for prevention work and to share approaches and opportunities. What are lessons learnt from a violence prevention network point of view? How are risks and opportunities of digitalization reflected within their global and European communities? Which challenges lie ahead? Representatives of the WHO Violence Prevention Alliance (VPA), the European Forum for Urban Security (EFUS), the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI) and from GIZ will share their experiences: on online violence against children and youth, on innovations in the field of urban security, on global digital knowledge management for violence prevention and on digital applications to promote violence prevention and social cohesion. The panel intends to build bridges between local challenges of online violence and global opportunities through networks on violence prevention – sharing and inducing innovative approaches, lessons learnt and research on impact evidence.
