Abstract:
This presentation provides an in-depth look at the emerging concept of community safety and well-being (CSWB), a uniquely comprehensive approach to urban safety and crime prevention planning in Canada. The presentation will cover the history and importance of CSWB in Canada, the planning process, real-world examples, and the tools and resources available for effective planning and implementation. The goal is to educate and inspire attendees to engage in collaborative efforts to enhance local safety and well-being through evidence-informed approaches, social determinants of justice, and proactive measures.

Felix Munger is a leader with 30 years of clinical, strategic, and operational experience in mental health, addiction, urban safety, and health equity. As the former inaugural Executive Director of the Canadian Centre for Safer Communities (CCFSC), he expanded its reach from 14 to 150+ communities and built high-impact partnerships. A strategic advisor to all levels of governments in Canada, Felix is also an international speaker. Fluent in German, English, and proficient in French, he actively engages in global safety initiatives, shaping policies and programs that foster safer and healthier communities.
