Climate Action Against Disinformation

More news about the topic

Climate change misinformation and disinformation are major threats to climate action. They create a distorted perception of climate science and solutions; meanwhile they weaken the public mandate for effective domestic and international policies aligned with the goals of the Paris Agreement.

Outright climate denial no longer has as much traction in mainstream media, but continues to flourish across social media, with algorithms often amplifying the worst and most extreme content.

During COP26, 15 organisations across Europe, Australia, Africa and North America monitored potential climate disinformation threads and generated reports to inform journalists and decision-makers such as the COP26 presidency and civil society.

During COP27 the CAAD-Team is again covering climate disinformation trends and attacks at the COP27 climate summit.
