The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic has taken a terrible toll in lives, illness, and economic devastation and it is having diverse effects on violence and crime. Therefore, the Daily Prevention News publishes weekly a Corona Crime Issue dedicated to collect related relevant news and information.

  1. Policing Social Distancing: Gaining and Maintaining Compliance in the Age of Coronavirus
    Drawing on motivational posturing theory (MPT) and procedural justice theory (PJT), this article makes recommendations for how best to secure compliance with social distancing regulations. Focusing attention not just on whether compliance is achieved but how recognizes the risk to future legitimacy posed by only achieving compliance through coercion or the threat thereof.   6. The Rockefeller Foundation’s new National Covid-19 Testing & Tracing Action Plan for the USA
    The Rockefeller Foundation’s new National Covid-19 Testing & Tracing Action Plan, launched last week, recognizes the successes that the U.S. has had in improving our Covid-19 testing and outlines how we need to redouble our efforts to reach 30 million tests per week and beyond in order to safely reopen communities and workplaces, and keep them open. In this new action plan, which builds on our original Covid-19 Testing Action Plan, we are calling for smart testing, increased contact tracing, stronger data collection, and more effective and consistent public health communications.   7. Weaponising Covid-19
    This latest report, from UK think tank the Henry Jackson Society looks at attempts to blame Covid-19 on the Jewish community. Despite much of the recent political and media focus being on mainstream platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, the report finds the most ardent forms of hatred circulate on peripheral so-called ‘alt-tech’ platforms. The study comes as it was revealed that Facebook has taken robust action in banning adverts by extremist group, which have attempted to sow the seeds of division amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
