Gun Policy in the United States of America

More news about the topic

The RAND Corporation, an american thinktank, has recently released the results of its Gun Policy in America initiative, a two-year dive into the research on gun violence and the laws trying to curtail it. The findings, while limited, point in one direction: Gun control can save lives.

The initiative provides information on what scientific research can tell about the effects of gun laws. One goal is to establish a shared set of facts that will improve public discussions and support the development of fair and effective gun policies. Thousands of studies were analyzed to examine the effects of gun policies on defensive gun use, hunting participation, suicide rates, and other outcomes. Views of gun policy experts who have opposing perspectives on the likely effects of gun laws were evaluated in order to understand where disagreements exist and where compromise might be possible.
