Empowering Refugees! Prevention of Religious Extremism Through Social and Educational Work

More news about the topic

Refugees only play a marginal role in Salafist circles; yet, they also figure among those groups targeted by extremist initiatives. The recently by the German NGO UFUQ published handbook makes suggestions for primary prevention work in the field of civic education and youth work that aims at strengthening refugees against religious extremist ideologies. The handbook is aimed at people working with refugees in the context of educational and social work, both in and out of school.

The perspectives for pedagogical work, highlighted in the brochure, are derived from the long-term work of ufuq.de in the field of civil education and prevention work in the sphere of Islam, racism and religious extremism. ufuq.de contributes to various European projects and networks and is financed by the German Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
